Life Purpose“When you see what you’re here for, the world begins to mirror your purpose in a magical way. It’s almost as if you suddenly find yourself on a stage in a play that was written expressly for you.” – Betty Sue Flowers

- What does this statement mean to you?
- Do you believe that you are truly living your life purpose?
- When you go about your daily activities, are you filled with vitality and joy in the doing?
- Do you smile and feel good when you think of what you are doing with your life right now?

If you answered “no” to any of these questions, then this may be the perfect opportunity for you to take some time for quiet contemplation. After all, it is the most important topic of your life! Answering the question to “What is my life purpose?” can be a magical and profound experience if you allow yourself to be truly honest. If you allow yourself to travel inside of your Self and have a listen.

All the answers to any questions you may have are inside of you right now. You just need to clear away some of your mind clutter in order to hear them. Einstein said, “A new idea comes suddenly and in a rather intuitive way. That means it is not reached by conscious logical conclusions.” But how does it happen “suddenly”? If you recall the times you’ve received an answer from within to a question that was on your mind, you’ll probably notice that the answer came to you when you were quiet – when you weren’t concentrating on the question. And that’s usually how intuition works. It talks to you, sometimes when you least expect it. And you can fine-tune yourself to receive the answers from within by simply allowing yourself quiet time each day.

Our purpose in life is certainly not to do, do, do – with no time for quiet reflection, appreciation or connection to our own truth.

Try this experiment and see what insights come to you and how they make you feel.

1. Decide on a time every day that you will give yourself the gift of time. If you find yourself thinking, “I have no time for time!”, then start with a five-minute ritual.
2. If the weather is nice and you can easily step into nature, go outside and sit down. If you have a plant or a fountain inside, sit beside it. Or sit next to a lighted candle that is placed on a smooth surface with no clutter around you.
3. Feel yourself breathe as your belly moves in and out like the rhythm of the ocean, and focus your attention on one thing – a tree, a bird, flower, plant, water, or candle.
4. As you look at this one thing, allow yourself to fill up with appreciation for the beauty and clarity of this one amazing thing that you are focusing on.
5. Let your thoughts of appreciation come and go without trying to control them in any way.
6. Do this every day for a week or longer until you notice that your body, emotion and spirit look forward to this daily five-minute ritual.
7. Then close your eyes as you sit next to the object of your attention. Feel yourself breathe as your belly rhythmically moves in and out.
8. Repeat this affirmation slowly and with conviction, “I believe my inner spirit is guiding me to my life’s joyful expression. I am deeply grateful for this guidance and I am at peace.”
9. Now quietly listen as you feel peace and gratitude.
10. Have a note paper and pencil handy so you can jot down your insights when you experience them.

Over time, you will notice how much you love and appreciate these daily five-minute rituals, and will probably want to increase the amount of time you spend in quiet contemplation. If you want more time for it, then by all means give it to yourself. Remember, you are living and breathing on this amazing earth in order to express yourself and feel good. If a few more minutes of quiet time contribute to that end, then feast on it. You deserve it!

So, what are your intentions?
Here’s to the gift of quiet contemplation every day, as your spirit glows.
