SEO is link building – quality content is great, and it’s an essential component in any marketing strategy, but there are hundreds, thousands, even millions of quality posts out there which never get read, and the reason why is simple to understand: link building.

I would go as far as to say that link building should comprise about 70% of all the activity you perform on your SEO campaign. Google looks to links like votes: each site which links into your site is essentially submitting a vote in favour of your site. Some votes are stronger than others, but put simply the more votes you have then the higher your website will rank for a range of its key terms.

So, without further ado, let’s look at some novel ways you can build links to your website, and attract other people to link to you:

#1: Vary Your Anchor Text:

This is a mistake which is really simple to make. Google is always on the lookout for a “natural link profile” – submitting hundreds of links, all at once, to hundreds of worthless article directories and using the same anchor text over and over again doesn’t really give off the most “natural” of impressions.

You should ideally vary your anchor text as much as possible. For example, if you want to rank for the term “Washing Machine Repair”, then consider using the anchor text variations “Washing Machine Repairs”, “Laundry Repairs”, “Washer Repair” and so on. Don’t worry about being too specific – all of the aforementioned anchor text examples will help contribute to improving your ranking for “washing machine repair”.

#2: Diversify Your Link Profile:

This is another mistake which many webmasters make when they first start experimenting with SEO. A diverse link profile is one where the links pointing into a site come from many different sources e.g. blogs, directories, article directories, social bookmarking websites, press release sites, news sites and so on. All of this diversity will help give your backlink profile a more natural appearance.

#3: Zemanta:

This is a service which has grown like wildfire over the last year. Zemanta will publish a feed of sites which are relevant to content you happen to be writing at any given time – these sites will appear in a resource box while you are creating a post. The obvious benefit here is that a blogger or webmaster may choose to link to you if your post is interesting enough to catch their eye.

#4: PageRank – is it important?

If you’re going to take anything from this article, try and remember the following concepts: authoritativeness, relevance and trust. All of these ranking factors exist independently of the much sought after PageRank value.

PageRank, quite simply, is a massive topic and it’s possible to write thousands of words on the subject. However, all you really need to know is that it’s far from being the be all and end all of Search Engine Optimisation. For example, acquiring a link from a PR0 page on the BBC.co.uk is far more valuable than acquiring your tenth PR2 directory submission – the BBC.co.uk is after all, a very authoritative resource.

Another thing you should keep in mind is that PageRank, as the name suggests, is assigned at the page level – the PageRank value assigned to the homepage is not universal across the entire website.

Active SEO is a business oriented service aimed at producing the most relevant and rich content possible for a company website to achieve a first page position on search engines.

To achieve that the SEO company provides the client with a CMS (Content Management System) so that the he/she can upload their own content and updates while the company deals with the on-site and off-site SEO technicalities such as including the correct Titles, Meta Tags and Back links.

Who else knows the ins and outs of an industry better than the professional involved in the company?

Active SEO is the practice of creating great content which is relevant and useful to the visitor (potential buyer). Search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo are constantly fighting standard SEO practices that are not always beneficial to the end-user as those mean that the visitor is left frustrated with the lack of results.

Poor quality content causes Internet Rage.

Here are a few facts that you might not know:

Almost 12% of users find that the information they find on websites that are on the first page of search engines is not useful.

Most web sites that make use of aggressive SEO tactics do so because the companies behind them do not provide a service that is valid enough to warrant traffic in any other way

Active SEO = Active search engine optimization.

Ever since the Panda update was released there has been a rush to hire the best content writers around and what really makes a good writer is the in-depth study of a particular topic before producing any content. To write good content, the writer himself has to become a pseudo expert at the topic at hand, produce numerous drafts that have to go through the company and finally, once the article is approved, it can be uploaded to the website. This process is very time consuming, frustrating for both parties and the end product isn’t always worth the hassle.

You can tell when an article is written by an amateur because it reads in a very spammy way and doesn’t really tell you anything you couldn’t have learned off Wikipedia and with none of the passion or enthusiasm for the topic being tackled.

The Active part of Active SEO is a reference to the participation of the client in the SEO process that is required to achieve a first page position on search engines.

The initial step still requires ample keyword/key phrase research;

Once the Optimizer and the client agree on what phrases to target the client can then begin writing the content according to the approved topics.

The roles are then reversed as it is the search engine marketeer who gets to approve the content and make any modifications necessary such as eliminating any spam and replacing them with semantically related words. This is all followed by adding images and optimizing them, adding appropriate anchor text in any outbound links, adding the correct meta data and of course correcting any grammar mistakes that might have been made. This methodology not only makes a great article which will keep visitors wanting for more but will also make for good link-bait.

Needless to say, anyone with the most basic language skills can participate in Active SEO. There is no need whatsoever for any content writing skills, our experience actually shows that the less perceived knowledge of SEO a client has, the better the content produced will be in as much that it will be honest and earnest.

Another benefit for the client is that since they are actively involved in the optimization process the service is usually much cheaper than a professional SEO campaign of the same standard, a close rapport is built between the two companies which usually produces far better results than the act of paying a fee, letting some time pass and expecting results.

Good on page SEO is essential

The SEOPressor plugin is aimed at producing good on page SEO. If you are aiming for a high search engine ranking this is an important first step, as it will leverage your off page SEO activities.

The point of on page SEO is to ensure that the relevancy of your posts and pages is understood by the search engines so that they can be displayed when appropriate search terms are used. If done well this will mean that your content will rank highly with the fewest possible backlinks. If done badly you will need many more backlinks to enable a high ranking.

What Is the SEOPressor Plugin?

SEOPressor is a WordPress plugin which is easily installed and configured. You simply have to set which changes you will allow the software to make on its own, and then enter a primary keyword for each of your existing pages and posts which need to be optimized.

How can the SEOPressor Plugin help?

The SEOPressor plugin will analyse each page and post and give its on page optimization a score. There are screens showing the score for all pages and all posts and the detail is shown on the Edit Post/Page screens. Here you can see the percentage score, the percentage keyword density and a set of suggestions for improvements.

You need to implement the suggestions and each time you hit “update” the score will go up. Your aim should be to get the score as high as possible but without falling into the trap of effectively writing for the search engines. It is important that your content remains valuable for visitors so a compromise is sometimes necessary.

Another benefit of the SEOPressor Plugin is that as you implement its suggestions you learn what you need to do in future so that the initial score you get goes up and the changes you need to make become fewer. SEOPressor though is always useful as it is easy to forget things.

What results will the SEOPressor Plugin produce?

With the assistance of the SEOPressor Plugin you will be able to optimise your pages and posts so that the search engines are clear as to their relevancy. In most cases (except with keywords with little competition) this will not be enough to get a good search engine ranking on its own but it will improve the effectiveness of your off page SEO. Therefore SEOPressor will effectively reduce the number of backlinks you need to get a high search engine ranking.

I can recommend the SEOPressor Plugin because it saves a lot of time and has helped get my content ranked on the search engines. I was a little hesitant at first but realized I actually spent more with other WordPress SEO plugins I’ve tried before so I guess it’s worth a shot. I’m running multiple sites so I got the unlimited-site license for $97, but if you’re focused on optimizing just a single website then I suggest you get the single-site license for only $47.

What does it do?

Well it’s like an SEO Expert that can always provide you with immediate SEO advice. It will tell you EXACTLY what needs to be done on every post to get optimal search engine rankings.

It analyzes titles, heading tags (H1, H2 and H3), keyword density, content length, image links, and font decorations. It also intelligently does SEO work for you like adding alt tags to your images and adding text-decorations (bold, italize or underline) to your keywords. It’s also packed with cool SEO management features. You can check out everything it can do on their website.

Not to mention it’s completely risk-free since there’s a 60-Day 100% Money Back Guarantee if you’re not satisfied with the software but I highly doubt you’ll return it when you’re already noticing a great improvement with your site’s search engine rankings and already making more money from your website during that 60-day period.

As many of you already know, your website’s content will either benefit or hinder your SEO strategy. This is true no matter what kind of website you run; whether it is for a product, service, or for yourself. Either way, I’m sure you’ve heard it before, your content is king! The issue is, most people don’t understand how to develop content that satisfies both their readers and their page rankings too. It is a difficult balancing act; one that is not easily accomplished.

But I’m here to help; I’m going to walk you through how to create the best search engine optimized content, not only to help you gain traffic, but to help you retain visitors as well. I mentioned earlier that in order to do this it requires a balancing act on your part. What you will be balancing is the quality versus the quantity of the content you will be producing. Let me explain…

THE BALANCING ACT

Content is judged differently depending on whom, or what, is viewing it. A user, or a person, will judge it based on how much personal satisfaction they derived from it. A search engine, like Google or Bing, will judge it based on a less personal assessment. There are three major factors when talking about how a search engine will judge your content; they are your content’s keywords, its length and how often it’s updated. Therefore, in order to create an effective article, you must take all four of these elements into account equally and without biased (the reader’s satisfaction, your content’s keywords, your content’s length and how often it’s updated). It seems easy, I know, but there are some important steps to follow if you want to guarantee your content’s legitimacy.

THE STEPS

STEP I: Write you content with your website’s main theme in mind. You always want to relate the ideas presented in your article to the ideas presented in your main Meta description.

STEP II: Your content is always written for the reader first and the search engines second. This is because without your visitors’ support, no matter where you are in the search engine page rankings, your online business will never be successful. But remember, it’s a balancing act.

STEP III: Your article’s length can be determined by what it is you are writing about and how much information you are trying to get across. Again, thinking about writing for your readers first, the length you choose must be in correlation with what you believe your readers’ attention spans will be. Sometimes, like when writing a blurb for an advertisement, you want to be short and sweet. On the contrary, if you’re writing something for in-depth analysis, you might want to use more words. It all depends on what you think will work best.

STEP IV: When developing content for your readers, you want to make sure you have an interesting voice; something that sounds lyrically appealing. Obviously, this trait corresponds with all good writers and takes a certain amount of skill to pull off. Not only that, but something that sounds good to you might not sound that good to someone else. It’s a good idea to read your content out loud and to others as a test run of sorts. This allows you to absorb their input and make any necessary corrections before you let your visitors see it.

STEP V: Using keywords is no doubt the hardest part of writing an effective article. This requires you to combine your interesting voice with certain keywords that will help search engines categorize your website. This does not mean cramming the same word a hundred times into an article just so search engines notice it, but rather using synonyms of that word and placing it discretely within your content. This is where the idea of ‘quality versus quantity’ really comes into effect. By cramming too many of the same word into your content you’re successfully decreasing quality and upping quantity. By not using enough keywords just the opposite happens; quality increases while quantity decreases. Follow these few rules and you’ll never find yourself uncertain about how much is too much ever again.

1. Use the Google AdWords Tool to determine what keywords you want to use.

2. Use the majority of your keywords near the beginning of your article; preferably within the first paragraph.

3. A good rule of thumb is to calculate how often your keywords are used; anywhere between 2-4% of your article should be dedicated to your keywords.

4. Using synonyms allows you to place more keywords into your content without sounding repetitive.

5. Remember, you are writing for your audience first! Meaning, no matter what you do with your keywords, make sure your content is relevant and comprehensible.

STEP VI: Updating your content frequently forces search engine ‘robots’ to crawl your site more often and, as a result, improve your page rankings. Updating doesn’t necessarily mean adding a sentence or two to an article; it means updating your website on a whole. So, whether that is adding some new media, articles, pages or whatever, it doesn’t matter. As long as updates are being made, the search engine ‘robots’ will have to crawl more often.

In conclusion, when writing SEO content for your website, there will always be a balancing act between quality versus quantity and writing for your readers versus writing for search engines. Knowing how to make the right compromises in order to achieve perfect SEO harmony takes practice, but by following the guidelines I have set forth I hope I can make the process a little easier.

Search engine optimization, is a process to make a website search engine friendly. Search engine friendly websites are easy to crawl and indexed by search engines, which helps in easy rankings for a website on its targeted keywords. There are certain steps which need to follow to make a website Search engine friendly. Below are given top ten SEO tips for an Ecommerce website:

CONTENT: As it is said that, “Content is King”, so the first thing you must consider while optimizing your website is be to keep your content short, precise and relevant. It should not contain unnecessary information.

KEYWORDS: Always try to use keywords which can highlight the specialty of your product as well as your website. A soon as a user types something on the search engine and it matches with your keyword, you can make that user land on your website.

ACCESSIBILITY: If a user has landed on your website’s page and looking for the product description, make sure that he is able to reach the product in the least number of clicks. More and more clicks may irritate visitors and tend them to move on some other site.

PRODUCT EVALUATION: A smart way to make a unique content is displaying user generated content from your customers. It allows customers to comment on the usability of your product and thus maintains a healthy customer relationship.

HIGHLIGHT YOUR PRODUCT: This is the reason why your website exists on the internet, therefore, try to include your product in the keywords on the home page so that it can help to attract more traffic.

USE OF IMAGES: Most of the online retailers’ sites are full of images. This should be given due importance that use images only if you think that it matches the kind of product you are offering. Excessive use of images can destroy your website’s reputation.

SEO FRIENDLY URL: If you make your website with SEO friendly URLs, the chance of a person to visit your site and buy your product increases. Try to keep your product pages as close as possible to your source page.

TITLE TAGS: Use the unique title tags and avoid to use extra keywords that are repeated in the title tag.

LINKS FOR PRODUCT: Make keyword rich links from within the product descriptions of one product linking to other.

AVOID REPETITIVE COPY: Most of the online retailers use the same content for their product description and following a repetitive copying trend will not help you out to differentiate your product from the others.

As with any competitive industry, the world of SEO has managed to accumulate a fair few myths. Whether it’s through misinformation from agencies, a general lack of understanding, or both, these myths are in desperate need of debunking. If you’re looking to hire an SEO agency then it’s certainly worth knowing about who you should avoid. Here are some of the most widely spread myths when it comes to search engine optimisation agencies.

Guarantees

Any agency that offers you any kind of guarantee when it comes to the results they can deliver for you, are not being entirely honest with you. The way Google ranks websites is constantly evolving and nothing about the world of SEO is stable. In such a fluctuating market place, it is impossible to guarantee anything. Google do not tell SEO agencies how their algorithm works or how it is going to work in the future, thus making any ‘guarantees’ completely redundant. If Google announced details of their algorithm to the world, then there would be no need for SEO agencies to exist.

A Good Google PageRank is all that Matters

Google PageRank is obviously important when it comes to where your website ends up in Google’s search results. In fact, PageRank is in fact only one element of a highly complex algorithm that Google has created. PageRank measures the number of links you have, the quality of those links, and many other things. It’s a very visible symbol for webmasters, but it certainly isn’t the only factor to be considered.

Meta tag Keywords Affect your Rankings

Meta tag keywords no longer affect your Google rankings. The argument has long been that having keywords in your meta tags is bad because it allows competitors to see what you are ranking for. However if this is the way that an SEO agency chooses to find about keyword competition, then they are clearly not a worthwhile agency.

Keyword Cramming

Keyword cramming will never be a good way to get a good ROI. Simply stuffing keywords into content is not an ethical or effective way to get good rankings. Google cares about relevancy and it cares about well written original content. Your blogs, articles, and other written pieces are going to be read by people, not robots.

Time

Fantastic results are not gained overnight and anybody who offers such services should be immediately dismissed. Good SEO work is never really complete, because it takes time and can always be improved upon.

Don’t get drawn in by promises of number one spots for top keywords in a matter of weeks. It may take some searching, but ethical agencies do exist and can deliver great results. Be cautious and you’ll find that SEO work can be incredibly fruitful.

Kingpin-seo specialise in ethical link building and know that SEO work can be infinitely more useful to all involved when it’s done correctly. If you’re looking to optimise your website, then they could be the SEO agency for you.

Diversification is the key. There are many – many methods, tips, tricks and advices regarding how to market your website over the internet. Yet, it is so difficult to choose which one is the best fit for your business. How would you know that directory submission is the best way to go? Or is Social Media the best place for gaining visibility for your website? Internet marketing is such an endless field – only your imagination can limit you. However, there are a few tried and tested methodologies which have been prevalent over the years and have the assurance of achieving results sooner than others.

With so many options at hand, it is not absolutely necessary for you to choose from and implement any one technique. The last thing you would want to do is place all your eggs in one basket! Internet Marketing has many techniques that you can take advantage of. You have keywords to work on – with appropriate density and strategic placement amidst your content; you can accomplish half of the task. You have global SEO and Local SEO where you can narrow down your target market, you have directory submissions, Link building, you can even use social media to get your website to be seen by customers at large! The point we are trying to arrive at is – these are all known techniques and absolutely low cost. Implement them with proper planning and choose the one’s you think apt for your business. After all you do not have anything to lose and you never know which one will work for you! Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimizations do not have a specific formula to go by – so give it your best.

Focusing on one method would mean that you are creating a dependency for yourself. One that you do not have any control of. Isn’t that a risky business? Of course it is! Use a mix and match of techniques. Use directory submissions to local directories and Local SEO techniques, if you are in a localized business, use social media and global SEO and link building appropriately for a more widespread customer base. Plan your Internet Marketing strategies correctly – they are the key to the success of your website. With a long list of permutations and combinations regarding usage of Search Engine Optimization Techniques, don’t allow yourself to be baffled by the many advices of one being better than the other. Because what works for someone else does not necessarily work for you. Start with a clean slate and base your Internet Marketing plan on your company’s analysis of the market and target your marketing strategies accordingly.

Finally, we cannot emphasize enough on the fact that “market research” should be the basis for your marketing plan. The method by which you implement it should also be based on market research. With a singular medium, you create for yourself a dependency on a third party. Diversification of Internet Marketing methodologies is the way to go. In this way you always have a contingency plan! And you have not put all your “links” in one basket!

I opened a medical website 11 years ago based on my own information leaflets for patients. Some of my webpages, themed on relatively low difficulty keywords, were regularly in #1 on Google. At various times, three of my webpages dropped from #1 to #2 for a few months. The question was “What did the pages that were now in #1 position have that my demoted, #2 pages, did not?”

From a clinical point of view, not one of the new #1 pages was as technically correct as my own. From an on-page search engine optimisation (SEO) point of view, they did not seem to be particularly impressive. Scoring checks with Website Auditor and Internet Business Promoter confirmed that my webpages had significantly better scores.

That left off-page optimisation – links from websites – as the other option to be checked. The new #1 webpages had one or two incoming links with minimal link value (SEO Spyglass) and PageRanks 0. Again, my pages had more link juice and PageRanks 1 or 2.

There was no obvious explanation for the new webpages achieving #1 position according to the literature. Here was a fascinating opportunity for research.

There was one common element to the three webpages that had pushed three of my #1 webpages to #2: They were all articles published by journalists in a variety of national newspapers’ websites. Whilst the PageRanks of the new #1 webpages were all 0, the Homepage PageRanks (HPR) ranged from 6 to 8. It became apparent that it was not the authorities of the individual webpages that were pushing mine down, but the authority of their respective websites as indicated by their HPRs.

Many SEO experts suggest that PageRank is irrelevant in SEO because there are many webpages with PR0 that are on the top page of Google for highly competitive keywords. Their observations were confirmed but all the internal web pages they were quoting with PR0 had HPRs 4 or more.

The PageRanks of the URLs of the top 10 webpages for numerous keywords and their corresponding HPRs were recorded on a spreadsheet. HPR was clearly the #1 factor as far as Google was concerned; however, it did not explain a few exceptions to the rule occurring with some medium difficulty keywords.

These exceptions to the rule became the next focus for attention. Most of these top page positioned webpages with PR0 for medium keyword difficulty were themselves Homepages.

Google has been all about “authority” as indicated by links from other websites and is clearly assuming that the HomePage of a website has that website’s greatest authority. The conclusion was that Google is providing a boost in effective PageRank to Homepages when they are competing for a keyword (the second factor in the Google algorithm – G-Factor 2).

It proved impossible to give a numerical value to this HPR boost by manual input into a spreadsheet – it was too time-consuming.

The first version of a program that finds the PageRank of the URLs and the corresponding HomePage PageRanks for a list of keywords on the top Google SERP was produced. The output could be transferred into a spreadsheet such as Excel for further analysis.

It became apparent that the boost to effective HPRs for HomePages competing for a keyword was between 4 and 5, but for HomePages with PageRanks of 5 or more, there was no discernable boost.

Confirming the top two factors on Google.

To test the validity of the top two factors as explained above, you can do a search on any keyword on Google with either Internet Explorer or Firefox with the Google toolbar active. Check the PR of any of the webpages on the top Google SERP and also the corresponding HomePage PageRank. If one of the top webpages is a HomePage with PR less than 5, add the G-Factor 2 boost so that the adjusted HPR becomes 5.

From a practical point of view, a newly indexed website has HPR0 for all the indexed pages. If the HomePage is appropriately optimised for a keyword, it will have a chance of reaching the top page on Google only if the averaged adjusted HomePage PageRank keyword difficulty (HPR-KD) for that keyword is 4.3 or less. HPR-KD for a keyword is calculated by averaging the HPRs, including the G-Factor 2 adjustment, of the webpages on the top Google SERP. Internal pages on a newly indexed website will not reach the top Google SERP for any useful keywords as their associated HPR is 0.

In time, as naturally acquired links from other websites are accumulated, the HPR of websites increase and keywords of ever-more difficult HPR-KD will come into play. It is crucial that websites should focus on keywords that are in range for top positioning on SERPs. This will allow the website to be found and for new links to be acquired. A website will receive more targeted traffic from the search engines if it is on the top SERPs for in range keywords with relatively little traffic than if it is invisible on the SERPs for keywords with more attractive traffic volumes.
