Personality profiling or performance profiling through tests like Jung-Myers-Briggs, DISC profile and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter, to name a few, is today de rigueur in many large corporations and multinationals. The idea behind such profiling tests is simple: Find out what the person is good at and get them into a job or position that capitalises on their strength.

But these tests may come with certain disadvantages. First, they require the candidate to actually sit for them. Second, the reliability of the tests in accurately profiling a person has been called into question, since there has been evidence to suggest that such tests can be “tricked”, because the candidate can choose not to answer honestly. Given how important these tests are towards getting a job in a multinational company, it wouldn’t be surprising that some people would be tempted to “Rob Wealth” their way (in plain speak, manipulate or bluff) through them. There is also the question of access. The tests are extremely expensive to implement, so small and medium-size businesses, businesses with headcounts under 250 and start-ups have little or no means to utilise them.

Which brings me to BaZi Profiling, a system of personality profiling that offers a number of clear advantages (obviously I’m a bit biased, but hear me out). The most obvious advantage is that it doesn’t require cooperation from the candidates. Just ask them to fill in their Date of Birth (the time isn’t really required for a basic profiling), punch it into a BaZi calculator, get the chart, and with some simple BaZi knowledge, you can read their profile. It has a high accuracy level in terms of ascertaining a person’s basic and inherent personality. You can’t cheat on a BaZi profile, and interpretation errors are virtually nil at the basic profiling level, which can actually be done using a computer program.

The Five Profiles

There are Five Basic Profile types in BaZi Profiling: Wealth Profile, Output Profile, Companion Profile, Influence Profile and Resource Profile. Here are the traits of each.
The Wealth Profile person is: independent, self-confident, responsible, results-driven, hard-working, bottom-line centric. They are exceedingly practical, supremely grounded and horribly efficient. These no-nonsense, frequently authoritative types do not mince their words, have low tolerance for excuses or foolishness and believe it is entirely possible to achieve efficiency + efficacy. They are control-driven and tend to micro-manage.

The Output Profile person is: creative, a big-picture person, a visionary, a dreamer, an evangelist, a daredevil, a rebel with a cause, hyper-confident, innovative, energetic, reform-driven. They are performance-driven people who thrive under the spotlight. They love presenting, pitching, brain-storming, getting on a soapbox and making something from zero to hero. They get a thrill from coming up with unique, over-the-top concepts and ideas. They tend to be stubborn, argumentative, demanding, tempestuous and sometimes suffer illusions of grandeur.

The Companion Profile person is: persuasive, sociable, chatty, a smooth operator, a networker extraordinaire, competitive, strong-willed, egotistical, hyper-confident, fly-by-the-seat of their pants, teamwork centric, a natural salesperson, outgoing, altruistic. Their motivation in life comes from seeing everything as a race. There is a tendency to be disorganised, last-minute, lack a systematic approach and make decisions spontaneously. This profile is also very susceptible to peer pressure.

The Influence Profile person is: likeable, pleasing, consensus-driven, pliant, anti-conflict, sensitive, precise, cooperative, thorough, measured, execution-driven, a peacemaker, a middle manager, diplomatic, tactful. They are the consummate follower, they never step out of line and always knows their place in life. They are never extreme and always rock-steady in everything they do. This profile tends, however, to shy away from taking the lead and prefers not to upset the apple cart in any way.

The Resource Profile person is: questioning, analysis-driven, thinkers rather than doers, methodical, thorough, knowledgeable, well-read, a micro-picture person, cautious, precise, systematic, structured, orderly, balanced, patient, reliable, steady. They are the consummate adviser; always armed with all the facts and figures, dissected six ways. This profile, however, does not operate well under pressure and has a tendency to procrastinate.

Most people will fall into one of these five profiles, or one of the profiles will dominate their personality. In some instances, the person’s profile is very clear and evident even without the benefit of plotting their BaZi chart.

The media, be it television, newspapers or the internet is full of stories about the vast number of people becoming self-employed or starting Companies right now. The words “Be your own Boss” or “Sack your Boss”, are abundant.

I started my first business back in 2004 and successfully grew it to $1 million turnover, with 50 staff across 10 sites in only 2 years and I loved it. I learned some useful lessons along the way that I feel compelled to share with you. The most important of which is that you need to know why you want to be your own boss and whether you have really thought through the consequences of that decision.

Here are a few of the reasons why many people want to be their own boss and valuable points to consider if you plan on having products, clients, customers and employees:-

You want to be master of your own destiny.
There are many factors effecting any business, depending on what you are selling including, the weather, availability of supply, cost price, choosing the right employees, choosing the right clients, choosing the right bank, seasonality and your competitors, all of which seem to conspire to distract you from your path.

You don’t want to conform to the corporate rules.
You may not want to wear a suit, be politically correct or be the person that others expect you to be, but be prepared to take time to find like-minded people who want to work for and buy from the person you want to be.

You want the flexibility to work when you want.
Employees will expect a good leader to lead by example. If they think you are half-hearted then believe me, they will be. Clients expect to you be available when they need you!

You don’t want anyone telling you what you can and can’t do or to impose deadlines upon you.
What you can or cannot do will become apparent as you see the ebb and flow of clients and customers, they will vote with their feet if they feel they are not getting what they thought they were going to get, when they want it. Also remember your relationship with clients, suppliers and staff is a two way street and if you fail to deliver your part of the bargain, you won’t feel like you are in charge for long.

You are fed up with making money for other people and feel you can make more for yourself.
Check out your ‘Wealth Profile’ online, it costs about $100, but it will be the best move you ever made. You need to find out what kind of character you are and who else you need around you to be successful. For example, I am a ‘CREATOR’, which basically means I am great at coming up with innovative ideas for products or marketing, but I am poor at completing projects and give too much away when closing deals and as a result, I need a ‘SUPPORTER’ on my team.

Your current job does not give you the life you want.
Make sure you have the support of those around you. You can make significant gains, but get it wrong without the support of your nearest and dearest and you could lose more than just your money.

Changes in circumstances such as, you have been fired or made redundant and the current financial climate makes finding another job, with the same pay, in the same field unlikely.
Changes in circumstances can often be the catalyst for helping you make the decision you have feared for a long time and if this is the case then go for it. If you are starting a business because it seems like the last resort, I admire your principle, but you may find it almost impossible to conjure up the self-confidence, drive and enthusiasm you need to succeed.

Your current employer has just appointed you a new Line Manager, who you don’t get along with.
Starting a business, won’t stop other people deciding who you work for. If one of your key clients is the employee of a large corporation, they can be replaced and if your client is a small business owner, they may sell, both scenarios can equally result in change for better or for worse.

You have just come into some money and want to put it to work for you.
‘Learn before you earn’ is a phrase used by multimillionaire Brad Sugars. If you don’t understand the rules of making money, you could stand to lose it and then some! Do a lot of self-development before you risk your children’s’ inheritance.

If some of the realities of being your own boss seem daunting to you, but you feel that you have the energy, stamina, determination, self-discipline and self-motivation, the qualities common to all successful Entrepreneurs and essential in any business, then start with the ‘work from home’ model, with no employees, low overheads and fixed price good quality products, as long as you have honed your people skills you’ll be fine..

Good luck.

Why is it that some people just seem to be able to generate wealth and have all the freedom and happiness you could ask for?

Have you ever thought about it? I know you have, because if you are the sort of person who would read an article like this one you have asked yourself that very question or something like it?

How did they do it? What makes them different from you? Perhaps they’re not, perhaps they just work and invest using their own personal strengths and leave the stuff they don’t do so well at to someone else.

Ask Richard Branson how he got where he is today, and he will tell you straight out that he did nothing he wasn’t good at, he’s great at generating new ideas and coming up with new schemes to make money, but he’s not good at “all that financial stuff.”

Here are some quotes from Mr Branson that illustrate my point:

“A business has to be involving, it has to be fun, and it has to exercise your creative instincts.” or

“I have always lived my life by thriving on opportunity and adventure. Some of the best ideas come out of the blue, and you have to keep an open mind to see their virtue.” or

“I never get the accountants in before I start up a business. It’s done on gut feeling, especially if I can see that they are taking the mickey out of the consumer.”

See what I mean? He got a creative streak.

What about Donald Trump?

“I have made the tough decisions, always with an eye toward the bottom line. Perhaps it’s time America was run like a business.” or

“Money was never a big motivation for me, except as a way to keep score. The real excitement is playing the game.”

These lines single him out as a Dealmaker, one of the best ever.

Warren Buffet, is like my father, who’s a hoarder, my father I mean, however Mr buffet is in his own way too as he accumulates things, mainly property and he doesn’t very often sell it again. What does he have to say that prove my point?

“Wide diversification is only required when investors do not understand what they are doing.” or

“I never attempt to make money on the stock market. I buy on the assumption that they could close the market the next day and not reopen it for five years.” or

“Time is the friend of the wonderful company, the enemy of the mediocre.”

I wonder who you are most like?

Would you like to know?

I came across something the other day that filled in all the blanks for me, multitasking is great to a point, however there are some things that I just do not do well, and then I ran into an acquaintance at a seminar and she told me to go straight to a website and take the “Wealth Profile” test. I posted the link to the test on my Blog just the other day.

Well did I learn a lot about myself! I found out that I had three real strengths and needed to stop trying to cover all the angles for myself. I learned that I have certain strengths that will create wealth and success for me as long as I concentrate on them and I have found my path. Yes, my path to success and wealth is set out before me now and I know what to do, only what I am good at, and what I am great at.

It will tell you that Mr Branson is a Creator, and Mr Trump is a Dealmaker and Mr Buffet is an Accumulator and the test result will tell you what your three greatest strengths are and how to turn those personality strengths into assets that build you wealth and success. It will also tell you who to partner up with or who to look for as your greatest asset in a partnership or joint venture, taking most of the risk out of finding a partner. I can tell you it will be the best money you have ever spent as it will save you much, much more in the long term.

When you play to your strengths and use your talents to create wealth and success you will succeed and you will be wealthy, it just follows. The trick is to allow those people who are better than you at the things you are weaker in to handle those things and get on with what you do best.

“How do I do that?” I was just getting to that, if you cannot afford to hire someone to help you, offer someone who compliments your weaknesses with their strengths a joint venture. Go into partnership with one or more people who together make up a winning team. All of you will benefit, all of you will end up wealthy and successful and for all of you it is a win-win as all of you a using your personal talents and skills and passions in a common purpose.

I have already formed a joint venture and already another person has asked me to joint venture with them, once you know your Wealth Profile you are able to tell others who have also taken the test, what your profile is and easily form new partnerships, joint ventures and work with passion and motivation.

Can you imagine only ever doing what makes you happy, only ever working with what you are passionate about? This is the direction my life is taking already.

Work? Bring it on…

The Wealth Dynamics Profiling system provides clarity on your path of least resistance to wealth creation.

Through a profiling test it identifies your specific path to wealth. Wealth Dynamics is an evolution of Jungian psychometric testing into specific action & thinking dynamics that relates to entrepreneurs. It goes back to the roots of personality profiling in Chinese philosophy, which precedes Western psychometric testing by 2,500 years.

Rather than just being a profiling report and list of soft recommendations, Wealth Dynamics provides an intuitive system which equips an entrepreneur with:

1. Clarity on the path of least resistance to success.
2. One of eight paths with a list of identifiable role models & biographies.
3. A six-step process to building the right team and focusing on the right activity.
It reveals eight paths to wealth. Fascinating stuff.

I devoured it on the flights to and from LA for the opening of the movie The Compass. You can’t get the book from Amazon so don’t even try. Instead, go to www.wealthdynamics.org

While there, take the Wealth Profile test. It’s a hundred bucks but could put you on your wealth stream.

I took the test, found out I’m clearly a Creator (with Star leanings), and suddenly began doing more things that stay within my profile. As a result, I’m making even more money and doing it with even more fun.

I don’t make a dime from telling you about this. I’m just sharing and trying to help.

Imagine knowing with absolute certainty what strategies are the best ones for YOU to choose to maximize your wealth creation potential.

Well, now you can. “Wealth Dynamics” matches your personality, natural style and talents with each of the EIGHT ways to create wealth… so you can discover which path to wealth is the right ONE for you.

It only takes 15 minutes to take the test to discover your Wealth Dynamics wealth profile and the 6 steps you need to take to build your wealth… AND you can do it in the comfort of your own home or workplace.

Discover the path to your wealth at

www.nativelywealthypath

Wealth Dynamics is a wealth profiling system which uses a psychometric test to assess your personality, strengths, productivity, values and group behaviour, to determine your most natural way to build wealth.

Up until now the only way to discover which path is right for you, has been through the process of trial and error. You make your money in business, then lose it all on the stock market… You spend years earning money working for someone else, and then lose it all starting your own business…
Wealth Dynamics was developed to take the trial and error out of the process. It provides you with a map to guide you on your path to wealth, allowing you to identify which strategies, and six steps you need to be focusing on, learning about, and taking action on.

Wealth profiling is a tool based on ancient philosophies which helps you to identify how to use your natural talents and character to live in your “zone”, and in the “flow”.

Once you know your profile you’ll have clarity on your path of least resistance. Not surprisingly, what you do most naturally, is also what creates the least stress and the most enjoyment. That’s the point – if you’re doing something that feels like hard work, you’re already doing the wrong thing.

When you discover your wealth profile, you’ll also receive the rules for the game for that profile, so you gain incredible clarity on how to invest your time, what steps you need to take next, who you need to learn from, where you need to be, what you need to do – and equally important, what not to waste your time on any longer.

“If you want to learn basketball, then don’t spend your time on the football pitch.”

When you consider the core reason why humans do anything, it comes down to two of our purest emotions. The strongest motivation is most commonly to Avoid Pain with a close second being to Gain Pleasure.

What do I mean by that? Think of it this way, why do you get out of bed when the alarm goes off in the morning? Is it because you have taken action on your dreams and have a business, job or lifestyle you love and you can’t wait to get stuck into your day so you can gain pleasure?

Sounds great doesn’t it, but most likely for the majority of the population it is to avoid the pain of being late for work, hitting traffic on the freeway, sideways looks from your colleagues and getting yelled at by your boss.

Relate this same concept to your wealth mindset and the decision on whether or not to buy a home or investment property. Why is it that some people decide to invest and others don’t?

It comes down to your decision making process and whether you perceive investing as pleasure or pain.

Understand that we all spend our time and money according to our highest core values. So if you value family and security then you may perceive buying a home for your family as “gaining pleasure” and avoiding the pain and insecurity of renting. You will gain pleasure in the achievement and pride of home ownership and avoiding the pain of not having a mortgage free home in retirement.

If instead you value freedom and lifestyle then you may perceive owning your own home as “pain” You may prefer to rent so you can avoid the pain of a 30 year commitment to a mortgage and gain pleasure in the flexibility of moving when you want and the ability to spend your time and money on having fun and your immediate lifestyle.

As some of you may relate, I come from European heritage and my dad is still to this day deeply entrenched in a scarcity mindset with all the associated belief systems. He was born in a small town in Italy in early 1931 and was 8 years old when WW2 was declared in 1939 and 14 years old when the Germans surrendered to the Allies in Italy in 1945. So I understand that in his formative years his “scarcity mentality” was justified as he came from a large family and food, let alone money was scarce. Unfortunately for him and many like him, although his situation has since changed, his mindset and beliefs never have. He still lives his financial life today as though he was back in wartime Italy.

My mum in contrast was born in late 1942 and was just a toddler when the war ended. Her family were more entrepreneurial with their farming, they grew their own fruit and vegetables, grew grain for flour for bread and pasta, raised chickens for their eggs and meat, pigs, plus they had goats and cows from which they used the milk to drink and to make cheese. They always had more than enough food for the family and also sold the extra grain, eggs, fruit, veg and milk etc for money which they used to buy non food items.

Your earliest money beliefs originate from either your father or mother, or significant guardian, during your formative years. As you start to live your own financial life you either model one parent’s beliefs or do the complete opposite and rebel against their beliefs entirely. However, as you mature, start work and leave home you develop your own money beliefs which result in your personal financial situation.

If I look back at my financial history, I see that I have predominately modelled my mother’s core money beliefs of “enough plus a little bit more”, however my risk profile is greater than my mother’s so obviously it’s to a larger scale with my business and properties. However, being raised by a parent with a scarcity mentality has left its mark and I have to admit that I still catch myself having conversations with the “scarcity” demon while my financial focus is on growing my business and my portfolio. I often have to stop and ask myself “am I withholding this spending because of lack or scarcity or because it makes sense for my current goals?”

So my first question to you is, who’s money beliefs did you adopt as a child and how has that influenced your current financial status as an adult?

That’s not to say that you can live your life in effect and blame your parents for your financial situation and say “it’s your fault, you made me this way”. You are an adult, you must be accountable and take full responsibility for your life, your decisions and your own money beliefs, regardless of where they may have originated. You earned and spent the money.

Awareness however, is the first step in making a change. If you recognize some beliefs you may have adopted from your parents along with your own money beliefs are disempowering to your financial situation, then change them. Model the beliefs of someone who is wealthy, financially successful and has created the results you want to create in your own life.

Up until a few years ago, I used to think relatively small. I had two homes, a homeowner’s mindset and therefore a full time job to support them. I no longer wanted the full time job so my homeowner mindset thought “downsize”. I considered selling both my homes in order to buy my dream cottage on acreage with a small mortgage so I only had to work part time seeking the lifestyle and balance I craved.

Thanks to everything I learnt from Chris Howard, Robert Kiyosaki, Richard Branson and Donald Trump I now think bigger, I think “upsize”. Not only did I realise that I have to Think Big, but I learnt that in order to be financially successful you have to put aside any negative money beliefs and Think Rich. You will never get rich by selling your assets, you will only get rich by accumulating more assets.

Some may wonder if the desire to create wealth is greedy? I think that the opposite is selfish. How can you be expected to help others, your family or friends, your charities and the needy in the world if you can’t even help yourself? You can’t help the poor if you are the poor.

So 2 years ago I took a huge leap of faith towards my dreams and goals and dramatically changed my mindset and subsequently my life in a profound way. I let go of limiting beliefs that had previously held me back and I took massive action to create wealth by quitting my job, investing in educating myself and becoming both a property investor and a business owner.

Now I am not suggesting you also quit your job to follow your dreams without thorough financial and business planning, but ask yourself.. What is the current financial pain I am trying to escape and the pleasure I am trying to gain. How can I change my results by changing how I associate the commitment to wealth creation with pleasure and not pain. How can I associate pain to my current lifestyle of immediate gratification and excess spending. How best can I balance living today with planning for tomorrow.

Start your journey to Wealth by not only Thinking Big, but Thinking Rich…

Ensure you develop what they call a “millionaire hook” which is the ability to see the big picture and also the knowhow to drill down to the detail. You need to ensure you have a crystal clear vision of your dreams, which will keep you inspired and focused and convert them into smaller manageable goals. Then pay attention to the small details which will become your processes and action steps. Steps without a larger vision will lack direction and a vision without clear action steps is just a dream.

Start early and use the power of compounding to propel you forward. Even if you are starting from nothing, automatically put aside a minimum of 10% of your income to create wealth in a high interest account. Figure out how to earn more income and save every cent you can to pay off your consumer debt and get into your first home to start building your equity. If you cannot afford your own home, then consider your first investment and let the tenant and tax man help you save for your own home.

You have to work smarter and not harder. You have to start making your money work for you, rather than always working for it. You must build assets or you will find yourself in a situation of trading your time for money in a job for the rest of your life, even if you are your own boss. Is that what you want?

Once you have a deposit or equity in your own home then borrow the balance and use the power of leverage. Make tax deductable investment debt your friend. I used to consider a mortgage or “debt” as something that had to be paid off and this caused me pain. I now consider “debt” as merely a tool in my investing tool belt that helps me to create wealth and this gives me great pleasure. I don’t ever plan to pay down my investment mortgages, instead I plan to shrink them in comparison to the asset they are secured against. Why would I want to pay of the mortgages on my investments today when $1 = $1. With time, the value of my assets will rise and the value of money and the property debt will shrink. I will use my money to build my portfolio, my assets, my cash flow buffer and my wealth.

If I have a property worth $300,000 and I owe $300,000 why would I want to pay this off now when I can pay it off in 20-30 years when it is worth a quarter of what it is worth today and the Loan to Value Ratio (LVR) is negligible? ie.

In Year 0, the Asset is worth $300K and the Debt is worth $300K, which is 100% LVR
In Year 7, the Asset is worth $600K and the Debt is worth $300K which is 50% LVR
In Year 14, the Asset is worth $1.2 Mill and the Debt is worth $300K which is 25% LVR
In Year 21, the Asset is worth $2.4 Mill and the Debt is worth $300K which is 12.5% LVR

However, as your money grows so should your own education in finance and investing, the quality and experience level of your advisers and your assets themselves.

Only ever take advice from someone who specialises in your field and with property specifically, someone who has more properties than you. General belief is that you spend approximate 1-2% of your portfolio value on your annual education and advisers so you can leverage of their knowledge and experience.
